This is a good graphic! And i worked with this artist collective back in 2002-2004.

I actually think they only used TWO fonts in this one, so maybe there is hope. Still loving the rainbow treatment of the fonts, though.

Who makes these? Is this supposed to be ironic?

It appears that Facebook’s “full spectrum domination” is complete — no one uses MySpace anymore to promote parties. Welcome Facebook icon to bad design! Not only does the “babe” get a shadow, the Facebook icon also is seen twice on this one ad. Lest we forget.
Also noted: a caterpillar is crawling across her left hand. Of course her right hand is sort of terrifying, so maybe this is a goth thing.
And speaking of domination…. how ’bout that kooky mash-up of blooming breasts with whatever-that-contraption-she’s-wearing-on-the-bottom-half? Fabulous prize to the first person who sends me the correct count of how many different fonts (ALL CAPS or not) are used in this wreck?

It seems like I’ve been concentrating on chickens wearing shoes and hats lately, so here is a link to one of the most awful “flash animation splash pages” I’ve seen in years. Did someone get paid to make this? Who? Will they be at this party?

Quick review of “gay graphic design features”: outer glow and inner glow (often on the same design element, go figure), a rainbow flag, People of Color on the ad to look “diverse”, multiple fonts (shamlessly mixing serif and sans serif), a cherry (!) and what the heck is that orange-y thing on the right side?

Every one of the “gay design features” is covered in this gem: rainbows, men’s/women’s symbols, some psychedelic background the makes this illegible, and at least five different fonts. Bravo!

And this also brings up another historical point– The Names of Bars. Remember the days when gay bars had names that included bird names, or oh-so-subltle references to places for gay people–sssshhhhh!!!!! such as “Our House” or “Triangles” or “Peacocks”? Adorable. I miss that. kaleidescopeweds_ketel.web2
